Hi, my name is Samantha Birch and I'm the creator of Under the Birch Tree

After leaving school I studied and cared for families, I had a great impact on these families lives and helped improve the way they raised their children and worked on different issues each family had. After some years of working both here and internationally I decided it was time to have my own children. My first born son is very intelligent and extremely loving. He melts the hearts of all those that come in contact with him, he is a beautiful soul. And he's just turned seventeen!

My younger two children are now 7 and 3. During my last pregnancy I suffered badly with migraines for 33 weeks. During this time I had alot of time to think while bedridden for up to three days each week. I decided to become a Doula and to write a book. I found it very hard to find any help, and didn't want anyone to go through what I was dealing with so difficultly. I lived in fear that the baby would suffer as I was and not develope properly due to my inability to eat or drink during the frequent attacks. I decided to write the book so that women of Australia could read how other Australian women have gone through this journey and know they are not alone, maybe find a similar story to themselves.

It turned out that my pregnancy was a preview to what lay ahead. Our son was born with little fontanel and his skull bones fussing, here the problems began. After nearly two years of heart break and worry, we have a healthy little boy. Along with his skull problems he caught a virus that caused Aplastic anaemia. His last hospital stay was due to collapsed lungs. The road is long and very dusty when you carry your child through the tunnel to recovery.

My middle child is my one and only daughter, she's our princess. We named her with that meaning in mind, and she believes she really is one and that all girls deserve to be one. At the age of seven she is loved by everyone, thrives on home school and is creative with arts and crafts, dances and acts and is known as a little eccentric.

When the kids were 6 months old I wrote and performed their naming ceremonies. I had exactly what I wanted. From there I also wrote and performed many ceremonies for family and friends. I found the most common ceremony was the one that families could do themselves in their own way, and put their individuality in to it.  So I turned my ceremonies into Do it yourself packages for exactly this reason.

My husband worked many years in the drafting and exhibition business. He made some beautiful wall art to hang on our walls that summed up our beliefs. They are so beautiful, and loved by everyone who sees them, so I started coming up with other designs that were to be for the children's bedrooms. After several people asked me to make them for their homes, I decided to start a business. My designs are unique, quality and original with homes in mind not just houses. We have many designs for children and symbols for culture and beliefs.

My business is a mix of all of these things, and we are sure you will find something to suit your needs. From birth support to wall art we are a family with families in mind.

I hope you enjoy your visit.
